Many of those items are lower quality then todays items but are considered cool because they are old and you had to have been playing for a certain time to get them.
Some of them were part of quest rewards which no longer exist since Cataclysm, some of them are old pvp mounts or raid achievements that were removed. Many of the no longer obtainable items in the game were not particularly hard to get at the time.
Having some items be part of the game for a time but eventually be removed gives some extra value to those items. Numerous people went through a lot of effort to obtain all 36 skins before that time was up predicated on the promise that this was the only opportunity to do it. Multiple reasons the same rewards should not come back:īlizzard stated on numerous occasions the rewards would never come back, that this was the only opportunity to get these items and that when 8.0 released they would be gone.
