It’s pretty revealing that Rick mistakenly referred to Earth Beth as the “real” Beth - not because he knows, but because he feels closer to her. While Space Beth seems to have much more in common with Rick, on the surface, Earth Beth is the one who has been living day-to-day with her father, having the occasional bonding session like we saw in last week’s episode. They’re both desperately seeking their father’s approval, one living his dream, the other living with Rick, tolerating his refusal to emotionally engage. As Rick desperately tries to avoid the inevitable, refusing to clarify who is the clone, the two Beths bond over their shared anger.
